Los Paredones was built between 1471 and 1493 AD during the reign of Túpac Yupanqui, at the peak of the Inca Empire's expansion. The site served as a strategic administrative center between the coast and the highlands.
This 2 km² site housed the residence of Cusco's representative on the coast and was a key point of the Qhapaq Ñan, the Inca road network. Its position allowed control over exchanges between coastal and Andean communities.
Los Paredones perfectly illustrates the cultural layering: Inca constructions built on Nasca and Huari remains, creating a unique architectural synthesis on the Peruvian coast.
