Interview with Quechua Earth Travel Agency

Founded in 2018, Quechua Earth Travel Agency is a Peruvian agency specializing in adventure and high-altitude tourism. Based in Cusco, it offers responsible, authentic, and immersive experiences throughout the country, with a strong community and environmental focus. Discover their unique approach through this exclusive interview.

1. Can you introduce your agency?

We are Quechua Earth Travel Agency, created in 2018. We specialize in high-altitude and adventure tourism. We operate throughout Peru, with a special focus on the Cusco region. Our philosophy is based on innovation, quality, exclusivity, and respect. We promote responsible tourism, connected to the environment and society, allowing travelers to bond with Peru’s history and nature.

2. What authentic experiences do you offer?

We promote experiential tourism combined with sporting, mystical, or culinary adventures. Our routes through Callangate (created by us), Lares, or Ausangate offer cultural immersion in the Andes, including homestays. We also organize trips to the Peruvian Amazon focusing on birdwatching, botany, and biking tours such as the Inka Jungle.

3. How do you work with local communities?

Our guides are specialized in high mountain trekking and Andean culture. We work closely with local family-run accommodations in the Andes, allowing travelers to experience daily Andean life. We believe in collaborative, respectful tourism that supports local economies.

4. What is your flagship tour?

Our most popular trek is the Callangate Lagoons, a unique route for lovers of unspoiled nature. We also encourage the creation of new itineraries to support more communities and diversify the Peruvian tourism offer.

5. Who is your audience and how do you personalize the trips?

We mainly work with families and small groups on private tours. This allows us to provide attentive, tailor-made service. For example, we designed a 100% personalized circuit around the Singrenacocha, Almacocha, and Comercocha lagoons, with camping and outdoor activities.

6. How do you implement responsible tourism?

We apply waste reduction policies, raise client awareness about environmental protection, and help communities with food and school supply donations. We also work with Planeta Salvaje, an organization focused on botanical conservation and reforestation in Cusco.

7. Why choose Quechua Earth over a large agency?

We are a local company founded on values of respect, honesty, and excellence. We offer an exclusive service, rich in emotion and attention to detail—far from mass tourism.

8. How do you handle unexpected events?

Our staff is trained in first aid and evacuation procedures. In case of itinerary changes (weather, social context), we always provide an equivalent alternative to maintain the quality of the experience.

9. What off-the-beaten-path site do you recommend?

Huchuy Qosqo, a peaceful site with breathtaking views over the Sacred Valley, built as a retreat for one of the last Incas. It’s ideal for connecting with the Andean landscape.

10. What trap should first-time travelers to Peru avoid?

Do not let your passport be stamped with souvenir stamps offered at some sites (like Rainbow Mountain), as this may invalidate the passport and cause issues at borders.

11. What tourism trends are you seeing?

Experiential tourism is growing. We offer agricultural activities, weaving workshops, and traditional dances in Andean communities for a rich, emotional, and human immersion.

12. How can travelers book and are there any benefits?

We offer an 8% discount for early bookings of high-altitude treks in January (Ausangate or Lares).
