The Ccochahuasi refuge is a rescue and rehabilitation center for native Andean animals, such as condors, pumas, and other endangered or vulnerable species. It is located at kilometer 22 on the road between Cusco and Pisac, making it a perfect stop during a tour of the Sacred Valley.

The refuge is a private initiative dedicated to protecting these animals, which are often victims of illegal trafficking. It has a dual mission of preservation and education, offering visitors a unique opportunity to learn more about the local wildlife.

🚐 How to get to the Ccochahuasi refuge?

The refuge is easily accessible from Cusco. The simplest option is to take a private taxi or go with an organized tour.

• By public transport: From the Cusco bus terminal (Puputi Street), you can take a bus towards Pisac. The journey takes about 30 minutes and costs around 5 soles. The refuge is located along the road.
• By taxi: A private taxi from Cusco will take you directly there. You can also include it as a stop on your Sacred Valley excursion.
